What we collect

Nothing. OliText does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to TaleAI, LLC or to any third party.

What stays on your device

• Audio from your microphone. When you start a transcription, OliText records audio from your device's microphone. The audio is processed entirely on-device by the open-source Whisper model. It is held in memory only as long as needed for transcription and is never written to permanent storage or transmitted anywhere.
• Transcripts. Completed transcriptions are saved locally to OliText's app data folder. They never leave your device. You can delete them at any time using the Clear All button in the History view. The on-disk locations are:
  • Mac: ~/Library/Containers/com.olitext.app/
  • iPhone / iPad: the app's private sandbox container, accessible from the Files app under "On My iPhone / iPad → OliText" and removed when you delete the app.
• Background audio (iOS). The iOS app uses the audio background mode so a recording you start can keep capturing if you switch apps or lock the screen. Audio still stays on-device — the background mode does not transmit anything; it only allows the microphone to keep working in the background.

What we do not do

• We do not have user accounts. You don't create one, and we don't have one for you.
• We do not run servers that handle your audio or transcripts.
• We do not include analytics, telemetry, or third-party tracking SDKs.
• We do not sell, share, or send your data to anyone.
• We do not access your microphone except when you actively start a transcription.

Apple App Store

OliText is distributed through the Mac App Store and the iOS App Store as a single Universal Purchase. Apple may collect purchase and download information per Apple's privacy policy. We receive only aggregated, anonymized sales data from Apple — counts of downloads, refunds, and revenue — never individually identifiable information about who purchased the app.

Universal Clipboard

The iOS app automatically copies a finished transcript to your clipboard. If you have Universal Clipboard enabled in iOS Settings (Settings → General → AirPlay & Handoff → Handoff), Apple's Continuity feature will briefly make that clipboard content available to your other Apple devices signed in to the same iCloud account. This is a system feature provided by Apple, not by OliText — we do not see, store, or transmit your clipboard. You can disable it in Settings at any time.

Crash reports

If you have Share Mac Analytics enabled in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, anonymous crash reports may be sent to Apple and shared with us. These reports do not contain microphone audio, transcripts, or personal information. You can disable this in System Settings at any time.

Children's privacy

OliText is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, the change will be reflected at this URL and the "Last updated" date above will change.
